Celesti Monarch Onyx

The Monarch Onyx is an all-black model – the dial, case and bracelet are all in one shade.

Dial and case

Black on black. The lack of contrast between the dial and case makes the watch read as a single block, with the Roman numeral indices visible only when held up to the light. This is the most evening-appropriate Monarch model and the only one in which the steel is entirely darkened.

Square 38 mm case

A square instead of a circle — that is the basic difference between the Monarch and the rest of the range. At 38 mm across and 12 mm thick it slides under a cuff without resistance, and the flat, angular shape sits more quietly on the wrist than a round case of the same size. The bracelet adjusts from 14.5 to 22 cm, so it fits both slim and broader wrists.

Seiko movement, no battery

A Japanese Seiko automatic, wound by the motion of your hand. There is no battery to replace — it runs for as long as you wear it. Left unworn it stops; wind it with the crown or give it a shake.
